In the third of the 2018 CBC Massey lectures, Tanya Talaga explores the concept of “The Third Space”. She talks about how Indigenous people have been forced into a kind of no man’s land: neither Indigenous nor white, where identity evaporates, abuse is common and suicide is a common result.
Discussion
Following the presentation, everyone will have the opportunity to participate in an open and gently moderated dialog. For each of the 6 sessions in our discussion series, our hope is that the participants will:
Understand, in greater depth, the issues facing our society
Experience how a healthy and respectful dialog, amongst diverse people, in our local community, is a powerful antidote to divisive rhetoric
Identify available paths of action, for bringing about meaningful and positive change
