Presentation

In the fourth of the 2018 CBC Massey lectures, Tanya Talaga explains how generations of Indigenous children have grown up without the basic determinants of health: clean water, safe houses, supportive families.  She argues that a people’s health is the outcome of their social and political circumstances.

Discussion

Following the presentation, everyone will have the opportunity to participate in an open and gently moderated dialog.  For each of the 6 sessions in our discussion series, our hope is that the participants will:

  • Understand, in greater depth, the issues facing our society
  • Experience how a healthy and respectful dialog, amongst diverse people, in our local community, is a powerful antidote to divisive rhetoric
  • Identify available paths of action, for bringing about meaningful and positive change
